Ideas for Bung Cam Light Source

Background:
Wine makers need a way to inspect the inside of wine barrels. Bung Cam is a combination of a USB style camera, such as the Microsoft View Cam, and an illumination source.

Basics of illumination source are a 4 or 6 high brightness LED system -- possibly two colors (white and infrared, UV or some other narrow band light).

Issue is the design of the electronics for the LED supply. Using a 15 volt, 1 amp (15-25 watt) supply it would be possible to drive two strings of lights off of a dual linear regulator, such as the Linear LT3029 part.
